An OWL is born
After the devastation of four major Atlantic hurricanes in 2017-2018, IBM launched the Call for Code in 2018, challenging developers from 156 nations to create disaster mitigation solutions. Five tech enthusiasts came together to form Project OWL (now OWL Integrations) to pitch the concept of deploying clusters of Ducks in disaster-prone areas to restore that 1% of connectivity that civilians need to communicate their emergencies with first responders. In November that year, Project OWL was awarded the Global Grand Prize and thus the OWL was born.
At the heart of OWL lies an unwavering intellectual curiosity and resiliency which helps us adapt and overcome any obstacles. We are passionate about solving our customer’s problems through innovative, cost-effective technology and take pride in our pursuit of excellence, fostering a culture of trust and respect in all our actions.Specializing in connectivity, OWL is steadfastly committed to creating new networking solutions for people, places, and things, regardless of their geographical location or circumstances. Build On Open Source

At OWL, we believe that resilient connectivity is and will continue being a necessity for everyone no matter where they are. Therefore, OWL open-sourced the ClusterDuck Protocol in partnership with The Linux Foundation to make that connectivity accessible to everyone.
